Hey everyone, I'm single, late 30s, and Rent is about $1,231/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $160,000 on average. With a population of 23,787, Bayonet Point is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 23,787 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Should I be concerned? Appreciate any input. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is average
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 48, moved here 10 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The public transit situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
