Alright, Poverty rate is 12.8%, which is around average. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What do you all think? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Chicago about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 6 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
