What I wish I knew before living in Bayonne

Longtime lurker here, I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I work in marketing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is tough. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Diego about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
