Been living here since 2012. You can expect to pay around $1,207 for rent here. Homes are going for about $184,200 on average. It's a a small town city with about 11,218 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.

I've lived in South for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The public transit scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
