Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $73,235 in Bayou Cane. The median home value here is around $195,900, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Bayou Cane sits at 618.2 per 100K. Median household income is $73,235, which feels about average for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
