Couple moving to Bayou Cane from out of state

Born and raised here. Median household income is $73,235, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $73,235 in Bayou Cane. Poverty rate is 14.1%, which is around average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective. TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The healthcare is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much established but now it's better than expected.
