Affordable areas near Bayshore Gardens?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Tucson and Median household income is $50,896, which feels on the lower side for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Does this match your experience? The weather takes some getting used to.

I'm a teacher and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Westside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
