Housing market in Baytown right now

Hey everyone, With a population of 84,538, Baytown is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Baytown sits at 418.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $187,900, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 15.1%, which is higher than I expected. Rent is about $1,217/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community
- Low taxes

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited dining options
- Poor road conditions
I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is solid in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Oak Park for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
