Pros and cons of Baytown after 2 years

Alright, The median home value here is around $187,900, which is actually reasonable. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 12 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- The cultural scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is underrated in most areas.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Meadowbrook area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely solid and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
