Anyone else feel this way? My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Beach Haven West sits at 172.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $577,500, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 5,164 people. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Would love some local perspective. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Eastside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
