Thinking about relocating to Beach Park from Pittsburgh
Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (North) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Midtown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.
