So, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $307,500 on average. Rent is about $2,236/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Let me know your thoughts. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The weather is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Downtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Diverse dining options
- The healthcare scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
