Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Beachwood sits at 60.3 per 100K. Median household income is $102,798, which feels pretty solid for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Worth the trade-offs? The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I work in healthcare here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is excellent. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from LA about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Springfield for 4 years. Moved from Houston for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is decent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Homeless population growing downtown. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.
