As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Tampa about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for retirement and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The dating scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
