Is Beacon Square worth it salary-wise?

So, I'm retired and Rent is about $1,318/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,318 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Worth the trade-offs? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 10 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
