I've been here for 13 years and Homes are going for about $280,200 on average. Median household income is $88,985, which feels pretty solid for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.
