OK so I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $464,000 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 54,817 people. The median home value here is around $464,000, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community
- Plenty of shopping options
Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Limited nightlife
- Limited dining options
- Few job opportunities in some fields
What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a sales manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

I've lived in Westside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Fairview) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- The healthcare scene is decent
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
