Beaumont job market vs Los Angeles

Hello, I've been here for 14 years and It's a a mid-size city city with about 114K people. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Uptown area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much established but now it's solid.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in East for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- The school system scene is improving

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in West area are tough. Kids love it here.
