As a 5-year resident, here are some things about Beaumont that don't make it into the guides:
1. The farmers market on Saturday mornings is incredible
2. The library system is phenomenal
3. The local craft beer scene is legit

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.
