Is Beaumont worth it salary-wise?

Military spouse here. With a population of 114K, Beaumont is a mid-size city. You can expect to pay around $1,072 for rent here. Poverty rate is 15.8%, which is higher than I expected. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2020 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is tough in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Tampa about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Diego about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely pretty good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (West) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 58, moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cost of living situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
