Not sure if this has been asked before, but It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs?

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The housing market is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Sunset for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 15 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 6 years. Moved from Dallas for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is decent - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Urban sprawl is real. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2017 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Lakewood area are improving. Kids love it here.
