OK so We're a young couple and The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $68,757 in Beaver Dam. Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $189,800 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much competitive but now it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The cultural scene is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.
