My wife and I are planning to retire in the next few years. We're considering Beaverton because of the outdoor activities. Weather is moderate — about 54F average.
Cost of living looks pretty reasonable. How's the healthcare situation? Any retiree communities?

I've lived in Midtown for 1 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

The job market has been improving lately. Several manufacturing companies moved in recently.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Lakewood and Maple Heights are perfectly safe.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.
