Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure

- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

I've been in Downtown for 6 years. Moved from Denver for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

The market right now is decent. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 3 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..
