The good and bad of living in Beaverton

Curious what people think. Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 97,502, Beaverton is a smaller city. Median household income is $94,279, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 9 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
