I've lived in Highland for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The outdoor recreation scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much affordable but now it's average.
