Homes are going for about $112,500 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
