Why I chose Beckett Ridge over bigger cities

Random thought, It's a a small town city with about 9,451 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Beckett Ridge sits at 490.4 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Has anyone dealt with this? The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cost of living is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Springfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
