Dog-friendly places in Beckley?

Hello, I'm a teacher here and The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $867 for rent here. Median household income is $39,939, which feels on the lower side for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Riverside for 14 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited shopping options. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
