Is Bedford a good place to live?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Rent is about $819/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 1.3%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 12 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 34, moved here 13 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Westside and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The food scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.
