I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $120,721, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The housing market is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Dallas about 15 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.
