Anyone regret moving to Belfast?

Random thought, I'm retired and It's a a small town city with about 6,985 people. With a population of 6,985, Belfast is a small town. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $307,700, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 6 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely tough and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Fairview) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
