Pros and cons of Belgrade after 10 years

So, I'm retired and Median household income is $88,896, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $88,896 in Belgrade. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I work in government here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is average. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Old Town for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The traffic scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
