Curious what people think. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $527,900 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Atlanta about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
