Best neighborhoods to rent in Bellaire?

Hey everyone, Would love some local perspective. Thanks in advance! Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Asian places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Raleigh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 31, moved here 13 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Lakewood and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Property taxes are high
3. The healthcare situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
