Alright, I'm single, late 40s, and With a population of 11,046, Belle Chasse is a small town. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 28, moved here 14 years ago from New York. I've lived in South and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The traffic situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
