Been living here since 2020. Poverty rate is 13.9%, which is around average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Dallas about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in education here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is underrated. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
