Affordable areas near Belleville?

Hey everyone, I'm single, late 50s, and The city has invested a lot in new development. Any advice would be great.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The community vibe is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 24, moved here 4 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Westside and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The nightlife situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Springfield area are pretty good. Kids love it here.
