Rent in Bellevue getting crazy

Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Bellevue sits at 204.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $230,800, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $1,202 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 58, moved here 12 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in The Heights and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in The Heights for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- The nightlife scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..
