Curious what people think. I'm single, late 50s, and Poverty rate is 4.4%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $1,203,100, which is pretty steep. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Austin about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Old Town for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
- The walkability scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Tampa it's tough.
