Raising a family in Bellevue — thoughts?

Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 151K, Bellevue is a mid-size city. Homes are going for about $1,203,100 on average. It's a a mid-size city city with about 151K people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Let me know your thoughts. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Houston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Dallas about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
