What surprised you most about Bellflower?

Hey folks, Median household income is $77,602, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 10.6%, which is around average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts? Appreciate any input. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely challenging and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Sunset) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for work and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Came here for family and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The walkability is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
