Biggest downsides of living in Bellingham?

First post here. The median home value here is around $577,400, which is pretty steep. It's a a smaller city city with about 92,367 people. Homes are going for about $577,400 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Bellingham sits at 273.1 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Should I be concerned? The suburbs are where most families end up.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (West) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
