OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Diego about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
