Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Denver it's average.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Asian places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is average in most areas.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The pet-friendliness is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2023 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

No regrets on my end..

I work in engineering here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is improving. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (The Heights) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 13 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Eastside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is average

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 29, moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Old Town and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Can feel isolated
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
