Relocating to Belmont, CA -pros and cons?

Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. TIA! Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in Downtown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.

No regrets on my end..
