I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely average and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Sunset) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for work and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in The Heights for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- The job market scene is decent

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..
