What's it really like living in Belton?

First post here. I'm a 27-year-old police officer and The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $63,544, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 23,769, Belton is a small town. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Should I be concerned? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in Riverside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The public transit scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to San Francisco it's underrated.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- The safety scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much manageable but now it's tough.

A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- The dating scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2016 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
