First post here. Military spouse here. Rent is about $1,989/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 8.5%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,989 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think? Any help is appreciated. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Asian.

No regrets on my end..
