First time home buyer in Beltsville

So, I'm retired and Rent is about $1,989/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $381,100 on average. Median household income is $97,115, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a small town city with about 19,086 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
Let me know your thoughts. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..
